L. Bodene’s - The Beginning
Thoughts of L. Bodene’s began when my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I wanted to bring her comfort as she battled this disease and fought to stay here with me and her grandchildren. I researched relentlessly and tried various scents, foods, and rubs to give her comfort in her last days. After my mother passed, I was determined to not only learn how to bring comfort to those who are currently ill using holistic medicine but to prevent illness through nutrition, herbal remedies, and skincare. This was the beginning of my search for healthier chemical-free ways to take care of my body and others.
Bodene is a childhood name. One of my aunts called me this name and it bothered me until I grew older and it became a term of endearment. I was reminded of my childhood again when I found myself in the kitchen developing a hand smoother and my signature Sea Salt Scrub for my son who is diabetic and needs extra care for his skin. This brought me back to the time when my mother also stood in the kitchen creating conditioners and skincare for me to use as a child. She, as I did years later, created these products out of love, care, and healing.
Each product created by L. Bodene’s comes from this space. The place of endearment, healing, love, and generations of knowledge passed down through oral tradition and handwritten recipes on worn pages in a cherished book.
I believe when you begin to take care of the outside it helps to heal the inside. Our family continues to grow and our products will continue to warm the soul as much as we moisturize the skin inside and out.
